Reflection on the year

In creativity class, I further enhanced my ability to code HTML using codeacademy.com, as well as working with google sketch-up and inventor. We were assigned several class activities and group assignments involving these softwares. I improved on my coding ability and designing using google sketch-up. On the end of the year water pump assignment, mine and my partners design was successful- although it was simple, it pumped out the most water in our class and was very efficient. I also became familiar with Mr. Palmer's class mysterys. Throughout the year, I think the class cracked every mystery but one- which will forever be a mystery.

Pulley System Pump

Me and Mason will attempt to build this Pulley System Single Pump (as seen). The base of the pump will be made out of PVC piping- with a whole located on the side of the pump, allowing water to pass through the 'water spout'. Inside the PVC piping, there will be a plunger, or even as simple as a metal rod that will be connected to a bike wheel with a handle on it, allowing the pumper to quickly spin the wheel with ease- resulting in fresh, clean drinking water.

Updated Problem

Don't you hate it when your Ticonderoga breaks in class and you have to get up to sharpen it.
Many students face the problem of breaking the tip to their wooden pencil while writing in class. Them having to get up to sharpen it in class is not only an annoyance to the user, but also creates a distraction to the rest of the class. With the new Triconderoga Black II, students may now write with their old-style wood pencil, but now be able to refill the pencil with led, as the bottom and the top of the pencil is made of a high-grade plastic. Students now get the classic wood feel of the Ticonderoga that they've known to love, but now with a refillable cartridge and a led-press. Be a proud owner of the new Tricongeroga Black II, get yours today!

Problem Statement: The students of the Brockport High School are sick and tired of receiving hours of homework throughout the course of their academic school careers. Students are to be held responsible to complete hours of homework after being held captive in a school for 7-8 hours, to then complete the day after. The studies of Stanford show that homework causes the student to experience greater stress, reductions in health, and less time for friends, family and extracurricular pursuits.

Major Ideas:
  • Reduce the amount of homework given in schools
  • Teachers should converse/interact with one another about how much homework should be given to their students on a daily basis
  • Talk to the student council of the school to bring about the idea of limiting homework to the rest of the grade/school
  • Get a representative to bring about the idea of limiting homework to the Congress
  • Pass a law/act to limit the homework rate to less than 1.5 hrs/day
  • Students should rebel against the school's homework policies
  • Peaceful protesting
  • Students should refuse to complete any homework until the school/teachers decide to reduce the amount of homework given to their students
  • Students should put up posters around the school on the issues/effects homework has on them as a student of the school
  • Stop Homework 2014 speeches
  • Stop Homework 2014 rallies/marches
